[When there is far too much on his mind (like now, like always), Mithos finds that it is somewhat helpful to go on long walks about the village. He tends to stick to the outskirts, where people are sparser. Better yet, he occasionally slips into the forest itself, where people are practically nonexistent. (Go ahead, prove him egregiously wrong ( Read more... )

what am friendship, now with 30% more internal monologue, he really is just a child (?), stop thinking about things, martelmartelmartel

What is it, Mithos? [Though she's happy to be contacted by him, she has no idea what he would want to ask her about.]

...You’ve been hurt and betrayed many times before too...right? You know what it’s like to be stabbed in the back at every turn. So...you wouldn’t betray anyone, would you? You won’t betray me, will you? [He can’t quite keep the pleading note out of his voice; it’s faint, but it’s there. Exposing such weakness is not something he usually does so easily, but he needs to hear her answer.]

Mithos...! [She remembers those sensations so very well, so many of them continue to sting and tear at her just as vividly now, even if they happened years ago. If she didn't remember, she wouldn't despise Humans so much.]

... No matter what, I wouldn't betray anyone who I swear it to. If I did... breaking a promise to someone so important to me would never stop hurting, I don't know if I can live knowing I've done that... If I did that to you, Mithos...

[Words and actions are two completely different things, known to contradict each other, but...he can hear her earnestness. He wants to believe that it is okay to trust her.]

I'm...important to you?

Cut it out, little guy!!

[That voice is from the sudden left of Mithos-inspection (aka turning one's head B|;;) would show a green-haired guy crouched down in front of a tree, swatting away a fox with a stick. While usually he runs from them, there are more important things to do in this crisis!

The tree he's guarding has a few scratch marks from the creature's claws; this is why he can't just flee. A tree is in trouble, you see!! D8]

Shoo, get out of here! Can't you tell you're hurting it?? Go on, get!

[The yelling abruptly pulls Mithos from his brooding, which is something he doesn't quite appreciate, and he turns to evaluate its source.

Which is some loser brandishing a stick at an animal.

Just...this face. A derisive tch too.]

[Hey now, the animal's going away! To which Ian pats the trunk of the tree and beams.]

There ya' go! That ol' fox won't be scraping at you anymore...

[And after he's done inspecting the grooves where the fox had nicked away, he notices Mithos. Maybe the 'tch' gave him away. He tosses the stick down and starts to walk away from the tree.]

Ahaha, oh-uh, hey! How's it going? ...Nice weather we're having, and all that!

[And now he's talking to him. Should have kept walking. Ian, you are little more than a brain irritant. ...But a suitable target for aggression, too.]

As if I care about something so insignificant as the weather.

[While walking in the village, Mithos might notice the feeling of being watched.

There happens to be a demon hanging around nearby on the roof of a building who is most definitely taking an interest in the young looking man. That description definitely seemed familiar. He had heard it in one of those many warnings that the idiot humans forget to lock away from current threats.

Yuber will keep watching for now, but it wouldn't be hard to find him, it's not like he's making any effort to remain unseen and there is very little he can do about the fact that it's obvious he's not human, even if he looks it from afar.]

[His head may be filled to the brim with thoughts, but Mithos is still quite aware of his surroundings thanks to a constant distrust of everyone. He pauses, unable to shake the feeling that someone has been watching him, and carefully looks around.

Oh, hello, figure standing on roof. Not suspicious at all. He'll send up a coldly superior glare. Because he has enough to deal with right now.]

If you're fond of your blood being inside of you, I suggest that you find someone else to spy on.

[That coldly superior glare will be returned to Mithos since it appears both of them have quite the ego about their abilities to kill.

But that answer says a decent amount, even if it is an annoying threat. Yuber will be decent enough to teleport down in front of Mithos for now.]

I'd say the same to you if you attack me. I'm not one of the worthless and pathetic humans of this place.

[He's largely bluffing; he just likes people to think he's as powerful as he once was.

Teleporting isn't anything new to him, but he wasn't expecting it from anyone here. Mithos is prepared to make use of his sword at the slightest hint of provocation. But...that is interesting.]

At least you aren't one the countless fools who insist that the humans here are worthy of being given a chance.
