If I did not have comms and people that I followed that are exclusively on LJ, I would not even bother. For serious. Yes, I know it is a spam attack, but these people just chose to spend a bajillionty hours and goodness knows how many dollars into putting in a bunch of crappy faux-Facebook games that most long term users on LJ don't give a shit about, rather than keeping up with their security.
Also, I have heard the thing about 'if you're getting a certain page load error, you may be contributing to the problem'. Yeah, not so much. I have gotten that error. Repeatedly. My multifaceted anti-virus software is completely up to date, and the honking big scan it ran that hogged all my RAM and CPU speed for over an hour just now has come up clean. Not to mention that my browser has script blocking add-ons that would have stopped me downloading shit like that in the first place, even if I did click on dodgy ads and links, which I don't.
My mood probably isn't helped by the fact that this sock project for mum's birthday has gone through about half a dozen designs and I have stopped counting the amount of times I have ripped out and started again. So over it. If these Sunday Swing socks don't work, then I'm picking the boringest plain knit knee high pattern I can find. Either that, or throwing the lot on the floor and stamping on it.
In good news, our new external drive arrived today, so I can back up all my shit before giving my laptop to the Officeworks people to find out what the hell is wrong with it. I suspect hard drive, hence the need for backup. No big errors yet, just some worrying clicks and ominous random beeps while the computer is running. I'm still in warranty, so that's good, but I don't trust them to backup anything, so I am pre-emptively saving all the stuff I've cluttered it with since I bought it.
