After a $100 replacement part for the kiln, that broke about a year ago, we fixed it and put it back together this morning. It felt like there were 1000 screws. Trying to read schematics for electricians was like reading another language ( Read more... )

Kit and I mixed the glazes Sunday so that we would be able to use them Monday. They needed a 24 hour rest period. So Monday night, after I opened the first color, I got excited and grabbed the closest little pot and dunked it, forgetting to put the wax resist on the bottom so that the pottery wouldn't stick to the kiln shelves. We stopped at Halfpricebooks in Madison and the next day I made this.
I like slab work. I used a dry sponge to make the lace look.
