The animals come out to play

It's definitely animal week around here. After breakfast, I saw Chippy on the front porch through one window, then through the other window I saw two rabbits out munching on the front lawn. It's pretty uncommon to see one rabbit out there in broad daylight, much less two, and they were pretty content--one tried to settle in and I saw it close its eyes in that sleepy, I-wanna-nap-maybe way that Kirby often does. I almost didn't want to disturb them, but they were gone by the time I left 5-10 minutes later.

They say that March comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb. We got a full-blown sheep this year; it's beautiful. Even now, with the sun going down, it's still about 70F. It was a tad windy, but the breeze was warm, so all was good. I even broke out the windbreaker this morning, knowing the winter coat would be too heavy when I left school in the early afternoon.

I took the north route home, through an area with another preserve, and I saw actual signs regarding the burning I've been seeing--the sign upon entering the zone read "Prescribed Burning Area," and on leaving, "This Area Has Been Burned on Purpose," something of the sort. While I did have my camera on me, it was buried in my bag, and I also had someone behind me; I'm not used to seeing signs like that and part of me wished to get a picture. Ah well, no biggie. They still don't beat the signs I saw last year which actually depicted flames. Those were cool.

One more thing--of all the animals I've seen lately, I haven't seen Pony. This makes me sad. I wonder if he got sold or something.
