Something that happened for me once
I read a (gen) story once in one of my fandoms that seriously upset me.  I felt it was completely out of character, basically the opposite of how the characters acted in the show, and I could see no rhyme nor reason for it.  It was as if (from my point of view) the author of that story had just mugged the ( Read more... )

After three episodes, I finally Googled to find out! Is Blair Jewish? Yes he is. I thought he might be with the last name "Sandburg." Not that everyone named "Sandburg" has to be Jewish, but it seems to often be the case, at least in fiction ( Read more... )

I recently read Charlotte Frost's entry about some things in fandom being too personal.  I enjoyed it a lot.

I can't help but sympathize, actually, with the shy people she mentioned.  As someone with Asperger's, all my people skills have been hard-won (and are still low).  I like people; I'm interested in people; it just doesn't translate easily ( Read more... )
