Marking Time...

On Tuesday morning I had a dental appointment. After it I dropped by a friend's place for a cold drink and a chat, and got home a bit after noon, by which time the dentist's anesthetic was wearing off. Even so, the afternoon was not as productive as I'd planned it to be, but I did get some useful stuff done in the evening before heading for bed relatively early.

This morning I woke up at a reasonable time, and spent all morning working through paperwork until the task at hand was complete. I then had lunch, and a while later I headed for the shops. This evening I went to the local astronomical society meeting. It was a short talks evening. The theme seemed to be Solar Eclipse trips, with two talks about trips to the one in the US last August, and one about a trip to India in 1995 by way of contrast. That earlier trip included a visit to the observatory in Jaipur built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. I expect we'll get a longer and more detailed talk on that alone sometime.

Among other things, I've been keeping half an eye on the situation in Kenya. The presidential election re-run is supposed to happen tomorrow...

kenya, politics, astronomy, health
