(Yukimura's appearance is mun approved. As is the break in etc etc. Kuro's going to be in so much troooouble.)

Most of the time, Kuronue was fine. He felt perfectly normal.

And then things would trigger something in his brain that seemed to bring out the darker side within him. Adjusting to life at Hogwarts had taken a while, and he believed that he ( Read more... )

It had been a pleasant vacation, a wonderful time away, of just being with Kurama in the warmth of the jungle. Even after the journey back, Kusuriyuri's shields had yet to fully restore themselves. He was almost to his office door before he felt the change in the room, much closer than he should have had to have been to feel it. He'd warded the office closed. No one, one in particular, should have been able to enter. This was the limit of what he was willing to bear. "I am sorry," he said to Kurama, genuinely so, as he set wards around the kitsune's feet, not touching his lover, but restricting him to that small area. He moved quickly, his shields and senses now fully alert. He knew where Kuronue was and was irritated enough not to care with whom the demon was keeping company at the moment.

"What did I-" He hadn't been close enough to feel the wards, but as he turned to try and follow, his feet tangled painfully and he dropped, one shoulder hitting the door. He twisted, simultaneously still trying to follow, and focusing on just what the hell had made Kusuriyuri stop short.

He clawed his way up the wall, stretching his awareness to the office, feeling the weird, unnatural wards within. It took a second for his brain to catch up and work out just what had happened, and then he snarled, driving his fist into the stone wall, scrabbling to try and pull the wards off, in spite of the pain.

The line had most definitely been drawn. He was going to kill Kuronue.

Kusuriyuri could hear Kurama behind him, but it would be far better for the kitsune to not be involved. This was between him and Kuronue.

He was only slightly surprised when his search took him to Yukimura's door. He stopped, shielding his presence as much as he could, before knocking on the door. Within he could hear the samurai requesting Kuronue to open the door as he was still trying to get dressed. The words were soft enough that a human with normal hearing would have missed them.

It was rare for Kuronue to not be able to sense someone of the human variety, most of them lacking the ability to sheild their own ki. So it was a demon, and Kuronue knew of only three demons at the school.

None of them he was particularly keen on seeing at the moment, but he sighed heavily regardless, his mind thick with sleep and the presence that was Yukimura that tended to make him a little sloppy in his training to be aware and constantly on his guard.

He stood and wordlessly moved to the door, making a point to pick up his weapons before he did, keeping Yukimura in his peripheral vision as much as he could as he walked to the door. He opened it slowly, and his pleased expression irremediably dropped to a scowl. He thought of slamming the door, the headache returning again. slitting through his skull and ramming against his eyes.

"Yes?" he asked instead, raising an eyebrow a little.

He made it to Yukimura and Kuronue's room with out incident, ripping each ward as he went into the tiniest fragments he could manage, scattering them along the halls. Perhaps it was the look on his face, or the vengeful way he was destroying the wards, but a female house elf he passed gave a terrified squeak when she saw him, and vanished.

Now, however, he was pacing in front of the door. In the past five minutes, he'd gone to knock about as many times, losing his nerve and backing away each time.

"Gods," he muttered, shaking his head. "I'm being a bloody twat." He shook his head and knocked - softly - on the doorframe.

Yukimura rose from the table. He'd drank half a bottle of sake, finding it tasteless as he did and not wanting to waste good sake when it wasn't being enjoyed. He was restless, yet not wanting to go anywhere. He was pacing his room, trying not to pass judgment on his lover before he could understand the circumstances. He knew there were things about demons that he, as a human, wouldn't understand, but there had to be more to the situation, something that cast a different color on it than Kuronue lying to him. It was the only way his love and his sense of honour could be reconciled. He couldn't accept one without the other, couldn't compromise either of them. He didn't trust himself to chose between them.

At the knock, though he wasn't quite sure he'd heard it, he opened the door quickly. He blinked, surprised at his company. "Kurama?" he asked, unmasked anxiety in his voice for once.

Oh, gods, he never wanted to have to talk to Yukimura like this. He straightened, trying not to look as awful as he felt, for Yukimura's sake.
"First thing's first: he's fine. Passed out for now, but he's okay." He sighed, and rubbed the back of his neck. "May... may I come in? There are a few things we need to talk about."

Yukimura opened the door. "I trust you will explain to me what has happened so I will allow you to do so before I ask questions," he said. The relief he felt at knowing Kuronue was all right was stronger than it should have been, but it swept through him, leaving him almost weak.

Once Kuronue had left, Kusuriyuri remained in his office long enough to finish his tea and clean up some. The remaining wards were removed by a guilty looking house elf who responded to his summons for one. He left while she was finishing though, not wanting to deal with any more than he had to. He knew his lover and could feel the swirling blackness that Kurama was giving himself to. He frowned as he walked. He had no simple words, no easy answer for this. Kurama would borrow guilt, it was his nature. But, would he pull himself from that before he gave over to regret ( ... )

It took a lot of effort not to run from Yukimura's room, or to turn out and hide in the forest a while. He didn't feel regret, as such, but he felt like an idiot. By trying to be honest, he'd likely worsened things. And he'd apologized too much. Damn.

He entered the room quietly, sat across from Kusuriyuri, and leaned forward until his head was on the table. "I'm a moron," he announced to the tabletop in particular, and the room in general.

Belophoebe walked across the table and batted at Kurama's ear, not wanting to be ignored, as she had been, so shamefully by her chosen servant.

"This one has said it many times, yet for the most part, it is harmless. You explained?" he asked, raising a hand to caress Kurama's head, only to be butted out of the way by Bel, who seemed intent on not allowing anyone else to touch Kurama until she'd been properly worshiped.

Kurama's ear twitched, and he turned his head to blow in Belophoebe's face. She sneezed, and headbutted him.

"I explained, but I think I made it worse by trying to apologize and shoulder the blame." Which he thought was only right, since he was the absolute bastard who started the ball rolling to begin with. He sat up and reached for Kusuriyuri with one hand, the other giving Belophoebe her due scratches. "I have no idea how this is going to turn out, koi."

Kusuriyuri must have sent al elf because one appeared by his side, scrambling up the shingles on the roof of the tower with shaky steps. Ignoring the wind in his face, he turned his head toward the creature and raised an eyebrow ( ... )

Yukimura had been staring alternately at the bottle of sake, which remained untouched, the table, and the door. He was struggling to understand everything Kurama had told him, to try and figure out where that put his relationship with Kuronue. His hand rubbed the mark on his neck, occasionally tightening around it. He'd thought he'd weighed everything before he'd agreed, before he'd taken the steps that led to it, yet he'd never considered something like this ( ... )

"Thank you," he said softly. He winced once he was inside, and muttered an apology for intruding just under his breath. He wasn't used to awkwardness, and this certainly was. He toyed with the sleeves of his yukata as he turned to watch Yukimura, not wanting to move or say anything in fear of it insulting his lover (ex-lover? Gods, he hoped not) in some way ( ... )

Yukimura was surprised that Kuronue would perform nukazuku before him. That kept him from asking if Kuronue truly believed they could have stopped what had happened. He knelt, hesitating a moment before he placed his hand on Kuronue's head. "I do not hate you," he said, his voice soft but certain. "I am hurt, angry, confused, but I do not hate you."
