(Yukimura's appearance is mun approved. As is the break in etc etc. Kuro's going to be in so much troooouble.)

Most of the time, Kuronue was fine. He felt perfectly normal.

And then things would trigger something in his brain that seemed to bring out the darker side within him. Adjusting to life at Hogwarts had taken a while, and he believed that he ( Read more... )

Once Kuronue had left, Kusuriyuri remained in his office long enough to finish his tea and clean up some. The remaining wards were removed by a guilty looking house elf who responded to his summons for one. He left while she was finishing though, not wanting to deal with any more than he had to. He knew his lover and could feel the swirling blackness that Kurama was giving himself to. He frowned as he walked. He had no simple words, no easy answer for this. Kurama would borrow guilt, it was his nature. But, would he pull himself from that before he gave over to regret ( ... )

It took a lot of effort not to run from Yukimura's room, or to turn out and hide in the forest a while. He didn't feel regret, as such, but he felt like an idiot. By trying to be honest, he'd likely worsened things. And he'd apologized too much. Damn.

He entered the room quietly, sat across from Kusuriyuri, and leaned forward until his head was on the table. "I'm a moron," he announced to the tabletop in particular, and the room in general.

Belophoebe walked across the table and batted at Kurama's ear, not wanting to be ignored, as she had been, so shamefully by her chosen servant.

"This one has said it many times, yet for the most part, it is harmless. You explained?" he asked, raising a hand to caress Kurama's head, only to be butted out of the way by Bel, who seemed intent on not allowing anyone else to touch Kurama until she'd been properly worshiped.

Kurama's ear twitched, and he turned his head to blow in Belophoebe's face. She sneezed, and headbutted him.

"I explained, but I think I made it worse by trying to apologize and shoulder the blame." Which he thought was only right, since he was the absolute bastard who started the ball rolling to begin with. He sat up and reached for Kusuriyuri with one hand, the other giving Belophoebe her due scratches. "I have no idea how this is going to turn out, koi."

Kusuriyuri took Kurama's hand. "Then, we will hope Yukimura is wise enough to see through Itoshii's foolishness." He squeezed Kurama's hand. "Though, this one would ask that Itoshii not shoulder the blame. He has taken steps to make amends, but to wallow in blame is to give place to regret."

"I certainly hope so," he sighed, smiling a little when Belophoebe flipped onto her back, demanding tummy pats. "And I don't wallow," he added, the smile widening slightly. "I languish."

"This one has yet to learn the difference," Kusuriyuri said dryly. He poured them both tea while Boukensha nudged at his chin. Once poured, he set the pot down and reached up to stroke the kitten-sized cat. "Perhaps Itoshii will enlighten me," he suggested.

"It's a difference of vocabulary. To say that I wallow is to indicate that I am inelegant. Languishing is much more aesthetic." He continued to pet the cat, then scooped her up into his arms to make room for the tea.

"Koi, may I ask you something? About the mononoke."

"It is a difference of Itoshii's ego, then," Kusuriyuri summarized Kurama's explanation. He took a sip of his tea, feeling the valerian start to edge toward the tension the chamomile had not touched. "If I am able, I will answer," he said to Kurama's request.

He set Belophoebe on his lap, and took a sip of tea. Valerian? He glanced from the cup to Kusuriyuri, and reached out his free hand again. It was rare for Kusuriyuri to use stronger herbs in his tea. He only used them when times had been particularly stressful. "It can wait. It is perhaps better to rest for now."

"I would prefer to answer," he said softly. "I have never remained, after an exorcism," he added, taking Kurama's hand. "Please ask, then we may rest."

Kurama gathered his thoughts, and brought out the broken pendant, setting it on the table. Tiny remnants of the red gem that had been set in the silver shone dully in the light. "A lot of this was him, but..." he glanced to the pendant that hung from Kusuriyuri's neck. "But there was a little of me in there. How much of my ghost remains, and how can I relieve him of it?"

Kusuriyuri looked at the pendant, both with his eyes and his energy. He considered what he'd felt from Kuronue when they spoke. "The mononoke is gone," he said softly. "But, this one has no power over memories."

He brought Kusuriyuri's hand to his lips, and kissed the palm. "That is what I wanted to know. Memories can be dealt with. Koi, thank you."

Kusuriyuri nodded, his fingers caressing Kurama's cheek. He took another sip of tea, setting the cup down so he could pet Boukensha without letting go of Kurama. "This one is of the hope they will be dealt with easily, though he knows that to be unlikely." He sighed. "In a couple of days, I will send a letter to Yukimura. From there, we will see." He made a wry face. "This one has never been around after."

"I wouldn't want to stick around if it were me," Kurama admitted. "It's the healing that is the worst part of a wound like that. I just hope that... you know. That things can be reconciled."
