I took off work the middle of last week to prepare for the show. For a change I went ahead and got a room at the hotel from Thursday through Sunday so I wouldn't have to bother with the drive home after set up Thursday night. The team knows what we need to do, and everything is progressing smoothly. I spent part of the afternoon in the Fencon database putting in a few movies I was planning on showing at the show this year. It seems there is a 2004 biopic of Steven Hawking starring Benedict Cumberbatch!

I received my copy of Fun at the Funeral Parlour today. First thing I did was watch the Mountains of Doom episode, the one featuring Brian Blessed. That clip I found earlier does not do this justice. One of the series it mentioned was Space Island One, a rather interesting near future drama about the crew of a corporation owned space station called Unity. Some folks on Facebook pointed out that next year Creation Entertianment, hosts of various fandom conventions across America is holding a Supernatural Convention in Dallas the same weekend as Fencon. I can see it hurting our walk-up memberships, though I'd think our core audience is probably not that big on the show anyway ( Read more... )
