I managed to get the sleeves not only pinned onto the bodice last Saturday, but sewn on as well. Sunday brought a little sewing party at a costuming-friend's house, and I got the skirt cut out and lined and sewn on. Used Simplicity 9769 for this - finished it in about 4 days(?) after getting and washing and drying the fabric, of course.  I rammed the machine needle into bones at least 3 times while sewing on the top binding. I just tried on my short stays again for the heck of it, and discovered that they don't actually fit all that well. They feel too tight in the back/shoulders, and the front forms this ridge that is visible through the cotton dress (yes, a Regency dress, not a random modern one) I put on over it. I made the Elizabethan Simplicity stays... the bust-lift is quite decent, but they are rather too long in the waist (at the sides) and dig in like whoa, which would probably mostly be solved by boned tabs, but I wanted to just make them by the pattern and see how they turned out. So I'm trying to make one of the PoF jackets (pg. 121 in no. 3). I scaled up one of them, it was way too small in certain places, I added an inch to the upper back, which made the sides fit fine but it's several inches too small across the bust. What to do? So I'm making a snood for a friend, and the pattern says to repeat a row until the snood is big enough. However, since I'm using pretty fine yarn/thread/whatever, I thought that the size of the chains in the last row would cease to be big enough, and it would look funny or something.
