Oberyn Martell is my new favorite character, and early teens is my new favorite period. I was looking at photos of the Winterthur excursion and fell in love all over again with the silhouette. So it seems the last event-required outfit I made fell in line with an HSF challenge (black and white) but I've gotten soooo off track with the whole thing that naturally I didn't take any pics of the "white" garment, nor did I ask someone at the event to take a picture for me! But it's 100% wearable! The only thing that I haven't done (besides overlock and press the skirt side seams, which doesn't count) is sew on all the skirt closures; I have sewn on the placket-half of them, but I'm dithering about how to sew on the other half. I put together a really quickie facing for the teens skirt - didn't even bother tracing the pattern pieces to match the curve of the waistline, just took two straight-grain scraps and marked seam lines to more or less match the angle of the seams on the skirt. I had a great time at Fort Fred, despite the wind's attempts to take the hat from every person there! Generally the weather was wonderful: low 70s and sunny. What heat there was from the bright sun was tempered by the cool wind. I spent way too much money and I don't mind a jot.
