So in the interests of getting some of my half-done/aaaalmost-started projects done, so that should some fabulous fabric be irresistibly on sale soon I shouldn't feel guilty about buying it (one of my coworkers was saying that she has to finish a project in order to get new fabric, which is a good motivator to finish projects, wot wot!) I worked on the
teens skirt today. This evening, I should say. It was languishing near the ironing board, waiting for me to sew the darts in the front, so I did that, attached the waist facing, and even sewed in the zipper! GASP A ZIPPER OH NOES
Yes, I know. But the pattern called for it, for some reason - a bit bizarre, since the pattern is pretty Spot On otherwise - and I didn't really notice until I'd already cut out the pieces, at which point it was mostly-too-late to plan a placket. So I decided to roll with it. :D
I have to handsew the seam allowance down over the zipper, because I'm unwilling to have machine sewing so obviously declare the zipper's presence, and then sew down the facing. I also want to undo the pleats to about knee-level, and just stitch down along the outer folds all the way down, which should allow for a bit more leg movement! I know the term is "hobble skirt" for a reason, but I don't LIKE hobbling in my skirts! Once I complete those tasks, I've got to hem it, and then sew on the buttons, and a hook and eye, I suppose, and it will be done. Unless I'm forgetting something.
Perhaps after that I'll work on my Crazy Flamingo Tote Bag, for which I got the webbing this past weekend (60% off coupon FTW) and otherwise haven't thought about in like two weeks. Oops?
I'm also excited about the weather taking a dip for the next few days, which will be super nice. Mainly because the a/c in my house basically only works downstairs, so the second floor has been sweltering for days. I can't sleep when it's too hot, so highs of 83 sound DIVINE. (Then it's back to 93, etc., but at least we get a wee break?)
