Yeah, people do seem to like Madame Boss, I do myself, yet she does seem to be way too strong a woman for many fans. Go figure.

People seem to like Urd from Ah! My Goddess! despite the fact that she's powerful and tends to scheme and dominate. (I suppose there may be scads of Urd haters out there but if so I haven't met them).

Walter from Hellsing seems to be not only not hated but extremely popular despite not having bishounen appeal and being this supporting role butler type. (Well he was smoldery when young as my icon shows but people seem to love Old Walter too). Maybe it's the way he kicks ass... or maybe it's just that everyone knows if they diss Walter to me they'll be sorrier than they can ever imagine.

And speaking of Hellsing, those who know the beautiful psychoticness that is Heinkel and Yumiko seem to love them too. (If they don't, don't tell me, I'm not sure I want to know). But I can see people hating them, theoretically, just for being bloodthirsty religious fanatics and stuff.

MB is strong? She has the potential to be, but didn't really demonstrate any sort of real strength aside from, you know, being the TR leader.

Oooh, and your reference to 'bloodthirsty religious fanatics' reminds me that I neglected to mention Eusine. Who, let's face it, is about a week or so away from starting a one-man holy war. I *would* think that his instant slashability with Morty would be what saves him from the poodles, but even that relationship goes ignored. However, so does most of his personality, so maybe it's *good* that they don't notice him more.

Well she worked, or killed, or slept, or something her way up to the top and doesn't seem to have a man in her life, so that's bound to incur some poodle's wrath. But true, she mostly seems to sit around sending Miyamoto to the Andes. (Like her son, she has a certain problem finding competent help).

I forgot to mention the slashability factor... yaoi fans tend to run in fear from Old Walter (yes there are exceptions but not many). Jet Black too, and there seem to be those who do disparage Jet for not being bishie... though thankfully I can't call him hated.

Yeah, but how can we tell?

Actually, I just wrote a fic about something along those lines earlier today, just a little foray into the dynamics between mother and son. (if you want to read it, it's on

Jayne of Firefly. He isn't a pretty boy, he betrays two of his teammates for money and isn't exactly likable. Still, not only is he one of my personal favorites, but he seems to be loved by other fans as well. Or then I've managed to stay firmly on the mature side of the fandom..

Also, Ed of Cowboy Bebop. Young girl characters often seem to end up being hated by the fans, but I've never seen her getting bashed.

Yes! Jayne rules! (He's not my *favorite,* though. Right now that's between River and Kaylee.) You remember Jaynestown?

And Ilia Volok (aka Master Org) played Jayne's original boss!

I like River and Kaylee, too. In fact, I can't think of any character that I wouldn't like in Firefly.

And yes, Jaynestown is one of my favorite episodes! Not only did it cast light on Jayne's character, but I found the interaction between Simon and Kaylee very cute.

Now I really miss the series. ;_;

About Hienkel and Yumiko! I've only read Volume 1 of the Hellsing manga (and thus only the first adventure of Hienkel and Yumiko at the end)... This is the English translation manga - I never did follow the Japanese manga (read about it before release and stuff). I'm just a causual Hellsing fan, really ( ... )

Indeed, Yumi(ko) and Heinkel rock. Nor they make the Vatican look bad, there's actually still Inquisition in these days (it wasn't dissolve) however they keep their business in a low profile (guarding the Pope there's high trained assassins).

Leblanc from Final Fantasy X-2. She does get bashed a bit, but not nearly as much as I'd thought she would.

Fanpoodles are impossible to predict -_-;;;;

Excel Excel from Excel Saga. I know one person who HATES her with a passion (she says she hates the show but she laughed while watching, her problem is with Excel Excel herself.) Excel is purposely annoying, loud, hyper, dumb, shrill, and never ever shuts up. Maybe for the fact that she gets killed or sent down the pit so many times for being these things, people think she paid her annoyance tax.
