Henry is driving me insane. He is adorable but such a brat. And today he secured himself a nice little present in the form of a crate. I went home over lunch to let the dogs out, which I don't normally do because Sydney can wait until 5:30. We have been leaving Henry in the kitchen, which is barracaded with a door Shawn took off the hinges from the hallway. Probably not the best idea seeing as it's all scratched up now. Yesterday when Shawn went home over lunch Henry had been good and pooped and peed outside. Today was a far different story (of COURSE). It was like a shit bomb had gone off. Sydney, either out of spite or constipation this morning, had shit in the hallway twice (she has never done that!). At first I was trying to figure out how Henry got out but judging by the size of the poop (gross, I know) I knew it was Sydney. Then I proceed with caution into the kitchen, where Henry has scattered his entire bowl of food all over the place, peed, pooped and walked through both, getting it all over the floor AND the walls! And not only did he poop but it was runny and ON THE VENT! He couldn't have picked a worse place unless somehow he was able to get up to the ceiling. So, naturally, I was furious. I let them both out and spent my whole lunch hour cleaning up the mess. Then when I went to fetch the dogs to come back inside Henry was nowhere to be found. Apparently my temporary solution to keeping Henry from getting under the deck was faulty, as I squatted down and saw him scurrying around. I snatched him up when he waddled out it got mud all over my white shirt. I think there might have been steam coming out of my ears. Well after all of this, I was left no time to go to TMobile to pick up a new phone charger to replace the one Shawn had accidentally left plugged in in the kitchen yesterday and Henry destroyed. I guess I should be happy he wasn't electrocuted.
I feel like a bad puppy owner. I kind of want to take him back (even though that isn't an option anymore). I know I will love him eventually because I felt the same way about Sydney when we got her (even though she didn't need nearly the training and attention Henry does since she was older). I just am too impatient and stressed out from work to want to mess with any training. Plus I was really enjoying my nice, clean house and now its a poopfest! Well hopefully crate training, which we should have done from the beginning, will help. At least the poop will only be in a contained spot and food won't be everywhere. I suppose I just wasn't prepared for a puppy, so let it be known that buying one impulsively is an awful idea!
On the work front I just finished up with a big project that has been consuming my life for several months. I feel so relieved and next week I am going to Dallas for work. It should be a nice little break, even if it is only for a couple of days. And I will get away from Henry. Just kidding. Well I am going to do a little online crate shopping. If anyone has any puppy advice I would love to hear it!
