Getting ready to head home

Aug 09, 2008 22:59

It's 580 miles or so...about 10 hours of drive time.  We've had a good time here, and it's been a great help to clearing my head of some stuff that needed cleaning out.  Good friend up here died last winter; his surviving spouse (who I have known for 25 years) and their 10-yr-old son are the folks we came to see.  It's been a good trip, although I feel D's absence all the time.  Still, A & J are doing well--better than most folks in such situations do--and A has always been an incredibly positive person.  I could do much worse than follow her lead.

Evan had a blast critiquing the horsemanship of the equestriens at the Iowa State Fair, and explaining everything to me in detail.  Most involved conversation I've had with my child on her own terms in months.  Great day.

I haven't done any homework for my audition class.  I will get little of value out of this class if I don't do the work...the coincidence of vacation and the start of this class is a little awkward.  Still, I have a few things I can do.

I see the plumbing doctor (proctologist) on Monday and the dentist on Tuesday.  Keeping the health up is a little more work these days than it used to be.  Need to get a new swim cap; back in the pool on Monday morning!

Then I watch Olympics at all possible times!

Peaces,
H.
