Someone driving along Highway 51 east of Stillwater was dragging a muffler. This created sparks which ignited several wildfires along the highway. Everything is tinder dry here since it hasn't really rained since May. Temperatures were 110+ yesterday, with moderate winds. We went to visit my friend Andrea yesterday. She lives in OKC, and she's an amazing gardener. We spent much of the late afternoon in her yard, admiring her plants, pond, water garden, and butterflies. For supper, we had fresh catfish. The heat has been scorching (really), and the chickens are having a miserable time with it.  Yesterday I went out a little after noon, and poor Xena was huddled, panting, in the hen house on top of a pan in which we put ice at night to cool them off.  Okay, it's 8:40 pm, and it's still 102 degrees F outside. 

It was a wild weather day yesterday, with terrible storms all over the state. The meteorologists on TV were fumbling at times, almost overwhelmed by it all. You could tell they were sometimes at a loss trying to decide which storm to cover because there were tornadoes everywhere.
