We got rain! Woot!
And 70-90mph straight-line winds. Not so woot.
Trees, fences, and signs were blown down all over town. We only had a few branches blown down in our yard, but we missed the worst part of the storm. Thankfully, we only lost power for a couple of hours.
Kate remarked that she thinks Mother Nature is trying to return Oklahoma to a prairie. I think a desert is more likely.
We did set set a couple of notable records last month (July):
- Highest statewide average temperature (of any state, in any month, in recorded history) at 88.9 degrees F
- Warmest month on record
The entire state is also in a moderate to exceptional drought.
But we got rain! And the highs for the rest of the week are only in the 90s! It's a cold spell!
