I couldn't find a website that was successfully streaming the inauguration, so I missed most of the live broadcast. I don't know if all the sites that I found were overloaded, or if it was related to my own computer and/or workplace. I did catch parts of it, however, and I can't recall a time when I have been more proud of my country.

It's been a week since the election, and I've been following the events in California surrounding Proposition 8.  I confess that I was unable to fully rejoice in Obama's election because of the votes in Florida, Arizona, and California banning gay marriage. Yes, we can.

I'm truly afraid of assassination attempts on Obama, and terrorist attacks on U.S. soil in the days preceeding Nov. 4th. 

So, the GOP is opposing a Democratic stimulus package that would help shore up state governments, assisting them to continue to provide medicaid benefits, unemployment benefits, teacher salaries, education budgets, etc. etc. Instead, the GOP insists that the following measures are what are really needed to help the country (my comments in ( Read more... )

The more I read about the proposed bailout, the more I think it's a bad idea. I hate to feel indebted to Republicans, but of the congressional members who voted against the bill, the majority were Republicans, and I'm starting to think they did the country a favor.

One of the girls across the street (SUV girl's sister, apparently) came by the house this afternoon and told Kate that they had seen our signs this morning and wanted to assure us that they hadn't done it. This was a very nice gesture and much appreciated.  She mentioned that their signs had been knocked over last week, and someone had cut the ( Read more... )

It was only a matter of time, I suppose, but someone came along and trashed our signs last night. They also destroyed our neighbor's Obama signs, too.

People are so classy sometimes, aren't they?  At least they didn't slash our tires. Yet.
