A long week

Nothing new on the neighborhood hoodlum front, thankgoodness.  Hopefully they're in the process of moving, at the very least they've moved on to other prey.

Had a call on my voice mail Easter Sunday, my cousin was looking for me.  Wasn't sure he had the right number and left a message, evidently he is here at PAFB for some schooling (he's Coast Guard) and thought we could meet.

I had to think about that one.

Anyway after a couple emails and a phone call from my Aunt, I emailed him back and arranged to meet him.  We got together at the B&N for coffee, I haven't seen him, or any of that side of the family in 36 yrs.  We've never been close, his mom is my mother's younger sister and they... well to say they fight would be like saying I IRA is just a bit cranky.

So we met, and it was very nice.  We had spoken a couple of times as adults on the phone, and his wife and I have done the xmas card exchange thingy, but face to face was nice.  I would have recognized him anywhere, and he confirmed I looked like his mom.  Which I knew, she was the spitting image of my mother in younger years, in fact up until recently I could never tell their voices apart.  However time, illness and I guess life have taken it's toll,  when my aunt called me monday I knew it was her, and not my mom.   Anyway it was exceptionally nice to hear Cuz talk about his mother being as insane as mine.  For the first time in my life I felt like maybe I didn't get short changed by having damaged parents, while it looked like they had ozzie and harriet.  It seems I missed out on something important not being close enough to any family to know what skeletons they keep under their beds.

Not my fault mind you, neither of my parents did much in the way of providing me access to family as a kid, distance and time has more or less kept me from it as an adult.

My right knee has been acting up, I had to break down and buy a brace as mine from previous injury/surgery have gone missing.  It could be due to my ankle injury (same leg), which while it doesn't hurt to walk, is still tender to the touch and aches occasionally.  I don't want to wear the ankle brace because frankly the ankle doesn't feel unsuported or weak.  My knee gets sore and wants to lock when I stand or walk too much, also wants to try and slip out of place a little.  Not enough to dislocate, but enough to pinch, really hard and make me wince and go *fuck*.  Been doing the aleeve, analgisic patch and rub.

Hubby is starting to really get on my last nerve.

Tude is being a pain, nothing horrid just typical teen stuff.  Am getting so so SO tired of kids here all weekend.  Don't get me wrong, they are good girls (and boys and no the boys do not stay the night they just hang until the last possible second before I pass out lol) spending their time on the computer, my space *blech*, phone and watching tv, they are good to the gran letting her hang too... just I would like some ALONE TIME!

Hubby is going to Daytona to play biker, now if I could only get the kids gone....

lol

Work has been, work.  Something like 27 school days left.   whoot!

all I wanna do is sleep

I've got the first season of the old Perry Mason tv series on DVD from BB, you know I have very fond memories of that show.  When I lived with my dad, on days when I was home from school for holidays or whatever, we used to watch the Dialing for Dollars movie and Perry Mason.  Mainly because he didn't get up until 10am when the movie started and he would be over his hangover by the end of Perry and ready to face the day.  Still was kinda fun though.  Lots of very young faces playing bit parts and murders lol.

The AC is on my last nerve, and frankly why can't I be more like the rest of my family and just fucking forget about it.  WHY do I bother to worry, evidently it just makes me the bad guy.

I need to go to the store.  ugh

The best part of the week?  Yesterday the gran an I went to the Library to return books and wha-freakin-la they are having a book sale this weekend!  I didn't get to peruse as much as I would have liked but did manage to pick up 6 books, plus the gran picked out a few.  yay us!

me, work, family
