Kitty is a big name X-Person, the kind of hero who has webshrines and her face on lunch boxes. She's big time, so Nico wasn't sure of how to treat her at first. She was expecting her to be all X-man holier than thou since the Runaways have had only the best experiences with Wolverine, but she turned out to be gregarious and funny. Kitty's catty streak pleases Nico greatly, so they hang out at the mall and bitch about the posers in Hot Topic in Japanese. Kitty doesn't judge her for her friends or her powers or her parents and that's refreshing. She adds strength to Nico's list of heroes that aren't as bad as she'd written them off to be.

Now if only she could wish away the bad fanfiction that came as a result of them being friendly in public.

Failbot Industries, how can we fail for you today?

Failbot is the first boy that Nico has accepted as her boyfriend---and told other people about. She's dated casually (re: made mistakes with boys she kind of liked for all the wrong reasons) but she has trouble with commitment and a whole slew of other things. Victor appeared in her life as an enemy at first, someone who would take her best friend from her eventually, so it wasn't a surprise that during their first encounter she delivered a stiletto-heeled kick to his face. Victor was attractive so there was some interest, but he was Bad, even if he was trying to be Good. When Gert died sans his involvement, she realized that she'd been treating him exactly how she didn't want to be treated---as an outsider because of what his parents wanted him to become. When he came to her to comfort her and things got kind of out of hand, she fell headlong into a sort-of-dating-not-really thing that Lillie totally ruined that bitch. She gave him space and told him to go after the girl he loved, even though she resented him for it. She tried to be ( ... )

Mark is COMPLICATED for Nico, since she holds grudges like none other. She genuinely, wholly LIKED the other Mark, even to the point that they were pseudo-dating. When he came back, forgot her, and got his ass crispy fried with a side of ketchup, she forgave him for all of the above because those warm and fuzzy feelings still clung. She has problems differentiating between friend-love and romantic-love (JUST ASK EVERY RUNAWAY THAT SHE'S MADE OUT WITH.........,m.,,m....), so Mark still exists in this space where she's earmarked him as one of the group, upstanding heroic sparklehood included. If not for Teddy's example that spandex does not always denote hardheaded hero asshole, she probably never would have started up a friendship with him ever.

HOWEVER. Mark did the worst thing possible in Nico's book by betraying her trust. She accepted him as part of her fail family and he signed on with Osborn. She KNOWS that he isn't from their world and has no idea what Osborn is capable of, but she still wants to---and probably will---grab him ( ... )

Santo fills the position of Bro in the runnershaus. It's been almost a year since Chase 'Ported out, and Nico has missed him horribly. As much as she rags on him and turns him into fish (canon what are you even), he's the big protective older brother that makes things feel like they're going to be okay if only because he can still whip out a lame joke. No situation is fully fucked if someone can still make the lame joke quota.

Santo's lame jokes and earnest there-ness remind her of Chase, so she's sort of adopted him in. She isn't the type that's too good at making friends---if the eyeliner and bitchboots don't scare people away, her personality finishes the job---so the fact that Santo was willing to put his life on the line to help with the Victorious situation was a big deal for her.

Her called her his friend without any kind of sarcasm attached to it, so she couldn't tell him otherwise. He's welcome on the couch anytime.

Pete is the proverbial thorn in her side. It seems like she can't make a post anymore without everyone's jolliest ginger telling her to go to jail and not collect $200. He didn't come to the police force until after she'd left, so he doesn't know how much of the work she'd done---the force had been much more barebones then. Since she didn't leave the police on great terms, she's highly critical of them---and he's highly defensive, thus heads are butted ( ... )
