A week or so prior to Pennsic, I came home one Sunday night to a most unwelcoming smell. Turns out my fish had formed a Jim Jones commune and were all belly up. And then there was the difficulty of having to clean all those cups of Kool Aid out of the tank, but I digress ( Read more... )

My niece is turning three next week and we are planning her birthday party. We asked her if she wanted "Disney Princesses" or "Little Mermaid" or "Shrek" as the theme. Typical Ally style she choose "Shrek". So now we are scrambling to come up with Ogre decorations.

I just got a great black and white photo of my Norwegian Grandma at 20-something, so I am going to re-post the entry about her.

I looked at the desk/hutch set more completely and it is an EA! It is Ethan Allen Dark Antiqued Pine Desk with the Old Tavern Finish. The item number on the back says that this is part of the # 12-4052 & #12-4057 furniture series. The Ethan Allen is stamped in the top left drawer and also on the back of the piece ( Read more... )

My Grandfather was first generation American of Czechoslovakian decent. His family settled on the Southside of Pittsburgh on the hills overlooking the steel mills. My Grandpa, known as Johnny to most of his friends, was a welder in the steel mills and he worked the midnight shift. Haven't posted in a while. The MD Renaissance Festival and the "surprise" visit of my sister, and my new baby niece, have kept me hopping. We combined both interests this past Sunday.
