Hot here--expected to hit 100 this afternoon. But this morning, Jubilee and I went and did some rally run-thrus. We're entered in a trial in Fishersville, VA, this weekend--Novice B. Haven't shown in AKC since around 1998--when I put a CD on Jubilee's grandmother, Frost. Been a while! Jubilee's never seen a dog show before--hopefully it won't blow ( Read more... )

Yesterday, I moved the chickens from my office bathroom to the much larger space available out in the kennel building. I took the opportunity to check all of them carefully, count them again (still 26!), and to take pictures of one chick from each of the individual breeds I seem to have ( Read more... )

Mail order chicks expected tomorrow. Excitement is reaching a fever pitch. Kiva is banned from the vicinity. I think I'm going to get some electric fencing to put around the chicken pen when I move them outside at about 5 weeks old.

I just got a phone call from the post office--I need to go pick up my chicks this afternoon at 3:30 or so. I didn't even know the order had gone through.

At any rate, what I'll be picking up will be 14 hen chicks and 1 rooster chick. Let's hope I can keep them alive. I only have the vaguest idea of what I'm doing!
