Walkin in a Winter Wonderland....

I told Brian I wanted to get a real tree this year. It seems like it will be much harder for the cat that stole Christmas to take this one down. Unlike last year.

I looked at the website of a local tree farm and then researched the types of trees they offered. I decided I wanted a Scotch Pine. They are thick/lush trees with sturdy branches. Seems like the best thing for catzilla. I don't even know if he CAN get into it. I mean... I'm sure he *can*, but we'll see what happens.

We went to the farm and they handed us a saw and turned us loose into the field. Brian wanted the very first tree we saw, but I wanted to keep looking. We saw some pretty nice ones... but they mostly sort of had a gangsta lean going on. Eventually we both locked in on one and decided we were too tired to walk anymore anyway lol.

I sawed first and got nearly half through before turning it over to Brian.
He got it the rest of the way without much effort! Yaay! We had our tree.

Then we had to drag it back to the barn lol.

The place was cool because no matter what tree you cut down... it's $25. No matter how big or small. If you cut it down and drag it up to the barn, it's yours for $25. For an extra $2 they wrap it up for you. Awesome.

Now, I won't say it was easy to wrestle this thing into it's base (Which I NAILED to the floor...) or easy to string up the lights around this mammoth thing. It wasn't easy to drag it through the field... or strap it to the roof. It wasn't easy to unfurl the branches and avoid getting stabbed. Everywhere possible.

But I'll tell you what... it sure was worth it.

I hope this will become a holiday tradition for us. Brian even helped a tiny bit with the decorating. It was lovely. And fun. A true holiday adventure. <3
