Joyful June: See You Later, Alligator (Orlando: Part 4)

My last post about my holiday. There is a new photo_scavenger prompt: Smell. I've not managed to get a good shot for this one yet.

We spent most of the day looking around World Showcase today; I love looking for all the details that make up the different areas.

Here's France; we enjoyed the new Ratatouille ride.

We had lunch in this area too, but found it really difficult to find anywhere to sit down.

Here's China.

We had a quick trip to the main part of EPCOT, before going back to the hotel. I managed to write one postcard for the trip, but didn't have any stamps to send it. Dinner was at Bahama Breeze, a decent place and we got to sit outside.

Today, I was trying to see the humour in all situations; just the irony of the situation or anything to stop me taking things too seriously. Things got to me, though; little things like annoyances with people, and yes queuing was an issue.

Having almost pushed in a queue by accident the day before, not realising a mother and child weren't with the person in front of them in a shop despite them standing right behind him when he was at the counter, I felt like I should deserve this.

If people even accidentally cut the queue in front of me, I feel like:

So yeah, I had a few moments when I wasn't being too cheerful, and I'd tried to have a good day, and there were a bunch of good things I can mention. We went to Typhoon Lagoon in the morning; I had a good chat with another Brit in the queue for a ride (seems that one of these is obligatory at some when visiting Disney World) but little things later got to me, like being crowded out in the changing room.

We spent the afternoon at Disney Springs; we went in a bunch of shops. The Coca Cola one was interesting because of the rooftop terrace it has, where we did go for a drink.

We wanted to go to a pizza restaurant, but found it closed due to a private party, so ended up in the Earl of Sandwich, where I was getting irritated at people again. I found myself waiting to use the multi-drink machine behind a girl who was hogging the whole thing just to get two drinks; standing in the middle, but with her arms stretched out to she could take two drinks at once; seemed oblivious to anyone around her (as do many people).

I got one last shot of the view from our hotel room tonight.

Now, we wanted to go to Starbucks on our way to Gatorland this morning, but the Satnav seemed to be against us; one of those times when we should have probably used our own instincts, and of the two ways we could have gone, we took the one that did not take us past Starbucks.

If you've not visited Gatorland, its an interesting place and you can spend a few hours there; in fact there were things I wish we'd had time to do. Just somewhere where I wish the staff could be a bit friendlier; there wasn't a lot of interaction when they weren't serving you in shops, more avoidance of eye contact (might be just me wishing for too much of people).

The gator wrestling was fun to watch, though there was a ridiculous number of people queuing at the start to get their pictures taken on the back of the gator (which had its jaws taped up to stop it biting anyone). There was even a kid who obviously didn't get there; not sure why some parents like to pressure their kids into doing this stuff).

We did get to do the swamp walk, although I'd thought at first it was closed.

There was also a train we got to go on, which was fun, though quite short considering how long we'd queued. Maybe I should have been more insistent on doing the off-road jeep tour.

We headed straight to the airport for our flight after we left Gatorland; it had been a nice holiday, though I often find Disney World can be a bit overwhelming. I like to go to places that are relaxing too.
