New Ways November: Wisdom of the Wise

Nov 24, 2023 07:10

So, I learned a lot from yesterday's talk about inclusive design, and hopefully I'll get to share some of it with colleagues and friends today. For example, colours can have certain effects on autistic people, and design of spaces is also very important, like not having them closed off, and how rounded corners are better for autistic people, and people with other disabilities like parkinson's; it's one of those moments as someone with asperger's that I realise someone really gets me (though my dislike of blind corners is that I have to be careful going round them in case someone is on the other side rushing along and about to crash into me, or at least that a near miss is imminent).

The Old Bailey tour was informative too; the building was interesting to look at. This was in one of the few areas where we were allowed to take pictures, and with some lamps/lamplight in for the latest photo_scavenger prompt.

It was interesting also going through the different courtrooms; we had it explained to us that when the accused enters the dock, they have to look straight at their alleged victim's family - can't be an easy thing to do.

A couple of other things from yesterday.

Giant Christmas bauble!

The return of the Snowman sculpture trail.

So after staying too late in the pub, I just wanted to go to bed when I got home, forgetting completely about the Harry Potter colouring book (I'll try again this morning/evening). Randomly, as I left the train, some random guy started shaking his hand; though as soon as I shook it, I noticed the guy's friend nearby, and it was fairly obvious he was just putting his junk away after urinating in public. I made a mental note not to touch too many things with the hand I'd used until I'd washed it (about five minutes later, I touched my keys and had to clean them).

One of the couples downstairs were facetiming someone out in the garden when I walked in.

There's been talk about a possible evening out tonight (I won't stay too long); I might do badminton, but it seems less likely now that I had a late night yesterday.

On Strava, I have:
