Optimistic October: Dreamworld
I was expecting a delivery this morning; it seemed to be running late, and then, around lunchtime, they texted me to claim I'd "not been in", despite the fact that they hadn't made any attempt to contact me, and that I'll have to collect it from the post office.
I don't get it; was this just an excuse for not being able to find my flat or something else? At least, these people should try to call before they give up.
Back before I moved out into my own place, I had to stay in to take receipt of a delivery; the guy showed up, and evidently decided that because there was no car on the drive, we weren't in, and he would have probably driven off had I not rushed out.
On a day when I've been inconvenienced, it's good to think about things that went well recently:
1) The last walk I did with Stags went well, despite a wrong turn and lower numbers than usual;
2) Last month's music festival was enjoyable, and was one of the most fun I'd attended, a good excuse to catch up with friends; is it wrong that one of my favourite moments was just having a long chat with a random guy who had come with his kid?;
3) I sent an e-mail to a senior colleague asking for some assistance this morning; amazingly, he sent a fast response saying he was more than happy to arrange a meeting to discuss.
I tried the "Dreamworld" limited edition coke this morning; it was very nice.
I had a walk with Mum earlier; the town looks nice with the autumn leaves on the trees.
But the big news for today is Rishi Sunak's appointment as PM (John Oliver really did pick the wrong week to be off the air); it's been the fastest change of leaders I've ever experienced, but inspired by Doctor Who, I had to draw this!
