As mentioned before, I shipped Buffy and Xander throughout the first season; for the record, I don't any more, but I did feel sorry for Xander the first time, getting ignored by Buffy; I think this was before I started realising Xander himself was ignoring Willow.
It's funny how things change about which couples I want to see get together.
