Okay, so I'm agreeing with Tom Cruise on Something - That is Weird

So, Tom Cruise lost it on set with members of crew who couldn't social distance, and while he has annoyed me in the past with his Scientology obession, here he is really channeling what I want to say, but most of the time I'm too afraid to because of potential reprisals (particularly after I snapped at someone who just walked right at me like a psychopath a few months ago).

Point in fact, last night I was attempting to cross the road back to my flat; it wasn't safe to do so, but I was very aware of a cyclist coming along the pavement at quite some speed; the man/teenager probably shouldn't have been out cycling at all, on the pavement or road, because he was barely visible in his dark clothes, but that's another issue entirely. It became obvious that he wasn't going to slow down and stop to avoid any risk of flattening me, and help me maintain 2 metres distance and I found myself apologising to the cyclist as I just about made it onto the road during a break in traffic as he was about 3m away from me. Yes, apologising to someone who was breaking the law, because I'm too meek to create a scene, particularly one that the neighbours will hear.

As it happened, as soon as I got in, I started role playing things I'd have liked to have said to the cyclist, probably too loudly (I think it ended up looking like one of Rik Mayall's acted-out scenarios in "Bottom" from the 1990s, combined with Gandalf).

I found out today that my area of the country isn't escaping being put into Tier 3 restrictions; it's something I was predicting, but I just wasn't predicting it to happen this fast; it means that I'm not sure if I'll even be able to the planned 16 mile solstice hike planned for Sunday, unless some sort of compromise is made. It will also have an effect on taekwon-do training, like will I be able to have access to outdoor lessons during the day?

It sucks, but it is probably the only way that we can get over the Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, one person at work has been quite negative about the vaccine, stating that he expects it to take five years for everyone to get the vaccine in the UK; it's the sort of bleak thinking that I don't like to hear, just when I need some positivety.

Unusually, I've not been left twiddling my thumbs at work yet this week; I had a training course on infographics this week, which was a welcome distraction, and this afternoon I was busy fixing a report; it does seem that when others touch my reports, they make a mess.

Let's get through this.

video, work, autumn, celebrities, hometown, other people, bad habit, advent, solstice, vaccine, social distancing, rambling, weekends, tom cruise, opinion post, taekwon-do, current events, lockdown, television, coronavirus, outdoors, stag walkers
