On Monday, I spent some time thinking about my own little successes in life, and remembered three things:
1) Taking up my position as a walks co-ordinator for Stag Walkers (last year);
2) Completing my European Computer Drivers License, many years ago; it was made harder when I got a job and I had to work around it, including going in on weekends, so it took me a while, but it felt worthwhile; and
3) Contributing to a time capsule when I was a kid, attending a holiday playscheme; my item was a phone; I think people were most interested because I drew an old-fashioned dial phone, which was really just how I always drew them. Unfortunately, we moved on from the play scheme, and were not invited to the time capsule burying, but it's still under my hometown somewhere.
I've been thinking of how I can have a positive impact on others through my actions, and I thought this quote was good to remember:
We went to Truro on Monday; it's not the most appealing place, but it has some nice sights, like the cathedral:
We got approached by one of the church elders as we arrrived; he was quite informative about what there was to see. We also had a walk alongside the river, but apart from a couple of nice views, there wasn't a lot of appeal.
We had a walk to Pendennis Head that evening; it would have been nicer if it hadn't been for someone on a motorbike who came zooming through the car park, not being particularly mindful of pedestrians, just so he could go up a slope and pose about as close to the cliff edge as he dared like a show-off, before zooming off again. We also wanted to explore some ruins, but found it occupied by some teenagers/students who were blasting out loud music, and didn't feel encouraged to go in.
We had a walk to the beach the next day, where we got to paddle in the sea, and see some of the nice views.
We spent the afternoon having a self-guided tour of Pendennis Castle, and then went out for a meal in the evening. We wanted to go into Pizza Express, but found it almost empty, but we managed to find a nicer, classier, place in town.
I also managed to get a picture for the
photo_scavenger "twenty-five" prompt.
On to Strava, I started several challenges, and completed two:
*Veloforte 4 hour Challenge (required 4 hours of activity); and
*Adidas x Parley Run for the Oceans.
I started three more:
*MAAP Transcend Limits (climb 1,000m);
*It's Your Move (requires 8 hours of activity); and
*Salomon Push Your Pace! (requires 6 hours of activity).
