The US Women have opened their Olympic play against France. So far, it's 0-0. Go USA!

The Olympics will open on Friday, but football/soccer started today. :D

England and Italy play today and the winner plays Germany in the Semifinal. Whoever wins is going to have a tough game against Germany. Since I have both English and Italian ancestry this one is a toss-up for me.

EDIT: So the game is in extra time since neither team could score a goal.

Friday night we saw The Avengers. Awesome, just awesome. There was action, humor, and the typical I-should-know-this-is-Joss-Whedon reaction of 'Oh no you didn't?' I LOVED the post-credit scene. Now that the U.S. Soccer federation's perennial coach-in-waiting finally has the job, Juergen Klinsmann will be expected to kick-start a stagnant men's national team.

The USSF moved quickly Friday in hiring Klinsmann a day after the firing of Bob Bradley.
