Top dressing compost on your lawn is not as easy as it sounds!

I posted this awhile back about spreading compost on my lawn to improve the soil. That was like two weeks ago, and I've only made three trips to the compost heap so far. :/

Anyway,



Ugh, I have so much left to do. I think I'm just realizing that this is going to be a gradual process and that I'm not going to finish it all in one season. There's only so much I can do with a small sedan, some Rubbermaid bins, and a rake. But, I still think it's worth it since much of my backyard looks like this:



In happier news, I am LOVING how my maple tree looks right now.



The fall color is gorgeous. I'm really tempted to plant a bunch more of them, but I know that our annual ice storms (two major ones every winter seems to be normal around here) would wreak total havoc on them.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with people who might appreciate my efforts. My neighbors have been watching me spread the compost from afar, probably thinking I'm nuts.
