I've been wanting to learn to surf since the early 90's... I even booked a 4 hour session with a surf coach last month and didn't do very well. I got up on my feet a couple of times for a few seconds. Tomorrow is try 2 for surfing lessons... last week I drove here and we had lightning so we rescheduled for this week. I hope I can get my time in the water this week. I'd hate to have driven to Florida twice for no reason.

I don't get a lot of free time between summer classes and work but I had taken a few days off to go camping and visit the college I plan on transferring to next fall. The weather sucked so I decided to stay home, mostly because I hate camping in the rain. I had coffee and fresh blueberry muffins with my sister this morning, I had just pulled the muffins out of the oven when she got here. We sat and chatted for a bit and then after work called to see if I could cover someone's shift and I said no for the first time we pulled a few things out of the garden.

Yes, today I learned how to operate a jack hammer! I was helping dad demolish the cement patio and stairs on the front of the house to make way for a nice new one. I was a bit difficult but other than the expected tiredness and body aches no one was injured and we got the patio and stairs reduced to a pile of easy to relocate size pieces ( Read more... )

So after financial aide and family hassles I have decided to treat myself to a night out... I just wanted to take a few moments to wish you all the best of the Turkey Day and a Joyous Hanukkah for those that celebrate it.

I made it to New York safely Monday night just in time to miss the travel problems and have been enjoying this visit with my family. I hope you all are spending time with those you care about and who care about you!

After the horrible week I had I was almost ready to write off the cost of my VIP pass to the Pittsburgh Bellydance festival but I had already scheduled the time off for the Zill class that was tonight and it was the one class I really wanted to attend so I went and as my luck runs I had a totally crappy drive to the studio followed by 45 minutes ( Read more... )
