New Skill Unlocked - Jack-hammering...

Jun 02, 2014 17:58

Yes, today I learned how to operate a jack hammer! I was helping dad demolish the cement patio and stairs on the front of the house to make way for a nice new one. I was a bit difficult but other than the expected tiredness and body aches no one was injured and we got the patio and stairs reduced to a pile of easy to relocate size pieces.

Next comes the clean up and putting up the new deck and stairs... this time they will be wood so that upkeep/replacement isn't as difficult.

Not much else has been going on, I am getting better and faster at running around the lake and I should be ready to run a 5k without embarrassing myself or my niece by the time July is here. I got about a third of the text books I need for the fall semester, one isn't available yet and two haven't been listed yet but I can get a jump on the Social Issues class and the First Aid and Health class.

I started reading Alan Dean Foster's Flinx and Pip series over again. I haven't read them in years and I now have the last one so it's time to find out what happens. My sister and I have decided on a family movie night and the first movie we will watch is Thor, which of course will be followed by The Avengers and Thor the Dark World... I'm not sure what we will watch next her vote is for the Wolverine movie.

I think I'm going to take a run up to Rhinebeck to Upstate Films to see Under the Skin, it's the same theater I went to for Only Lovers Left Alive and I may have to go a little early and try one of the restaurants in town.

Not much else going on, I still don't love my job but it pays and it's not too difficult in fact I can't wait for school to start since just working a cash register isn't very mentally challenging at all and I need some challenge.

It's a beautiful day I'm glad the weather is getting nicer since mom and I got the veggie and herbs planted. I can't wait for harvest time... yummy fresh food!
