Positive adjustments

There's a lot of regulations in the UK about how to treat disabled people. There are a lot of schemes in place, which are supposed to help. I'm curious to find which of these you've found most helpful, if you don't mind sharing.

Things such as:

-Guaranteed Interview scheme
-PIP/ESA
-Access to work funding
-independent living fund
-Disability discrimination act adjustments, workplace accessibility, working time reductions etc

Those of you outside of the UK, do similar things exist where you are?

What have you found to be most helpful in regards to living and/or employment? Are there any of you who would like to work but have come across any kind of access barriers which could have solutions you can't get for any reason?

Have there been any particularly negative experiences with any of the things I've mentioned or anything else?

I am not working atm as very young children plus disability means also working is impossible. But as my children grow and become less dependent I'll be capable of some work. I'm interested in knowing about the challenges others have faced in regards to working while disabled and if there are any common accessibility barriers?

Those of you that don't work atm, what have you found to be most positive and beneficial for you? In my area for example, you can register as disabled (it merely involves a very short form of non personal details) and get given a card which entitles you to reduced cost goods and services in many places as well as free carer entry in most local attractions.
