There's a lot of regulations in the UK about how to treat disabled people. There are a lot of schemes in place, which are supposed to help. I'm curious to find which of these you've found most helpful, if you don't mind sharing

Recent experience has shown me how, if a boss doesn't like a disabled person, phe can slither away from obeying the spirit of rules. Of course it's better to have those rules than not to have them.
IN my limited experience PIP is set up to catch you out. The rules are very strict and inflexible, while at the same time leaving it to the subjective view of the person conducting the interview - for example on whether pain caused by trying to be independently mobile should count as contributing to disability.
Access to Work have been OK. I'm very glad that the times my husband can't provide transport for me to work they will help with taxi costs.
As for my employer - their website talks the talk, but really don't help people who can't walk the walk!
I agree with you about PIP. I was turned down and denied on appeal too. Which I found ridiculous because it was a member of JCP that recommended I apply in the first place! That was my lone parent advisor. She was very surprised I didn't get it.
It's interesting that you notice a discrepancy between what an employer claims its disability policy is and what it does in practice. My aunt and I were just talking about this yesterday. We are both disabled and have both worked for most of our lives until we became unable to do so.
