Finally! All the leaves are done! I sacrificed most of my weekend to get them finished up. They have that airy look that I wanted, and now I'm just down to making my final decision about what to use for a lining that will behave. I need to use something with a good hand, not to stiff  but not drapy to the point of being saggy.

Whew! Leaves are Soooo much easier to appliquee than those stars were! Which is a good thing cause it's looking like I'll have to put about 90-100 of them on!  I've got about 30 on so far:

 One of the strange benefits of this project is that I am losing weight while working on this project. I seem to be skipping meals and my stomach has shrunk! I've lost 12 pounds so far.

Anyway, I've deciced to do the stems of the laurel wreaths in a soutache cord. It is what I edged the crowns in and it gives a nice raised texture. It's also fairly ( Read more... )

 Well, I know I've not posted anything in ages. I've been juggling mundane and SCA stuff and getting ready for foxes and job hunting, etc.

You'd think I could leave well enough alone. My classes keep evolving and I have to keep tweaking and changing my handouts. More work for me...

About a year or so ago, I did a very broad class on Heraldic textile applications, which evolved to heraldic embroidery, which has now evolved to heraldic appliqueé.  That's what I'm teaching this evening.
