Getting better I think. I haven't thrown up since 5:00am and have kept down some solid food today. Back to work tomorrow, hope I make it through the day. HUGE backlog of work stacking up.

So Rick came home last night with the same bug I have, not I said have, still. I managed to get from 4:30 am to 10:20 pm with throwing up, but apparently starting to eat again for the first time in three days wasn't going to go smoothly. Dr says I need at least 24 hours after last incident before returning to work so I'm not a contamination risk. ( Read more... )

Friday night we got back from a jam packed week of fun in Wellington, it was mostly to catch up with a bunch of past and present guildies from WoW. Among the other activities we did we patted a cheetah at Wellington zoo, rode the cable car and then walked back to the city through the botanic gardens, saw a couple of movies at the Embassy and ate ( Read more... )

Good news: pending final inspection, the renovations were finished yesterday and we get the keys back next Tuesday. It's been a long process, but having it done before Christmas is a present in and of itself at this stage.

The weather over the last week as well and truly put paid to any notion that the renovations would be finished early. The ground outside the dining room where the terrace is going to be s a swamp and far too wet to pour the slab, they expect two weeks before it will be ready, which is nearly a month after they originally planned to do it.

The master bedroom is pretty much the only room in the house that hasn't been taken over in some part by the renovations, either because of works in the rooms or stuff being stored until we get the refurbished rooms back.

Was released early and am now home in bed with a purring cat. I'm sure that will assist in a speedy recovery. The pile of drugs on the bedside table has to be seen to be believed and the list of what to take when runs to two pages. Hopefully in a few weeks we can wind back the calcium supplements a bit which will reduce the pile by 2 bottles.

I'm awake, for a given value of awake, I have a tendency to drift off. Not much in the at of pain yet, unless I try to swallow. The throat is somewhat bruised and swollen so swallowing, not so much.

Apparently I have/had Hashimoto's disease, which means many of the lymph nodes we also quite swollen. One was inspected as a frozen section on the ( Read more... )

People kept asking if I'm worried about the surgery on Tuesday, the answer is not really. The surgeon specializes in thyroid surgery and seems both knowledgeable and competent. The bit that worries me, is if I need to do radiotherapy next. That bit is disconcerting.

I saw the surgeon late this morning - I have a date for surgery (2nd April) assuming the new bloodiest (done) and ultrasound (waiting now) don't show up anything unexpected. I will most likely be in hospital 2 nights and off work approximately 2 weeks.

After surgery and cytology they will make a recommendation about chemo. It would potentially mean ( Read more... )
