Sometimes I have dreams that are more story than dream, and those are my favorite. It means my subconscious is entertaining itself. It means my subconscious wants a story. It means I'm still a storyteller, even though I sometimes worry I'm not.

I woke up this morning from an intense dream, where I was two people running from … someone. Mitch and Krissy: I was both of them, and there was a car following them. It was a busy weekend, and the trend looks to continue. We have now packed up all the books (excepting a big stack of TBR, because hey, keep those out. Last night's stress dreams included sentient giant albino water snakes with saucer-sized eyes and a vicious streak. Much more normal dreams for me, in other words.

I've had some odd stress dreams lately. Huh, you say, unsurprised. Lindsey? Stressed before a move? Shocked, no really, we are shocked, see the shocked faces that look kind of like not shocked faces. The dream starts with me living in my parent's house still, where the dining area, at least, was in the house in Wisconsin. My mom gathered my brothers and I to hand us pieces of paper with numbers written that I couldn't read, and told us she couldn’t afford to pay our allowances anymore, and we’d have to get jobs. Intense dream this morning. It was one of those nightmares that are scary but not terrifying, which is a nice change really.

Or I could dream about Walt Whitman. Which I did. I don't really understand any of it, and I hate it when my brain decides to go all "hey, let's play hide-and-seek with your knowledge base!" on me.

My dreams last night were filled with dark and wavery lighting, as though everything was lit by candles or moonlight on water. And there was a lot of water - rivers, lakes, fjords, beaches on fjords . . . do fjords have beaches? The one in my dream did.

Nightmares off and on all night. Part of it involved a BBQ get-together and a lot of people I knew in high school showed up, which was less a nightmare and more strange.
