Dreaming my dreams

The dream starts with me living in my parent's house still, where the dining area, at least, was in the house in Wisconsin. My mom gathered my brothers and I to hand us pieces of paper with numbers written that I couldn't read, and told us she couldn’t afford to pay our allowances anymore, and we’d have to get jobs. Or something to that effect. I knew it was fair, I knew I couldn't expect my mom to pay me an allowance, but I panicked because I couldn't think of any skills I had that would get me a job.

Somehow I ended up at the University Mall in Davis, holding my current cat Millie in my arms and trying to keep ahold of her so she wouldn't get lost or hurt. She was freaked by all the people, etc in the mall, and holding her was like holding a furry slinky with claws. I was thinking there were a lot more stores there than the last time I had visited (I think the U mall is really closed now? Anyway, the last time I was there it was a ghost town) and maybe I could look for a job later, although the thought of a retail job just sucked the joy right out of me. But first I had to get Millie back to my car and locked in where she’d be safe.

The mall slowly turned into a school, and it had a security entrance with gates and guards. I had to fake my way out past the guards, who wanted to know how I’d gotten in with a cat, but I couldn’t explain that I’d come in on the mall side. There were fire trucks and general mayhem on the scene, which was making Millie harder to hold on to. I heard someone explaining to the fireman that they’d been experimenting with exploding bananas. There was heavy snow all over the grounds, which was a mix between Founders Hall in Humboldt State and some forest scene from my imagination. There were pools of flaming cheese here and there that the firefighters were there to put out and investigate, and I just wanted to get to my car before my cat escaped. I finally made it past all the fire and people to a parking lot, to find my car covered in dirty snow. I managed to get Millie in the car without losing her, but I had to get out a scraper so I could move the snow. Two (uber geeky) guys who were trying to get in their van next to my car wanted to borrow the scraper. They were a little creepy, trying to flirt with me, or I thought they *might* be trying to flirt with me, but I wasn’t sure, maybe they just wanted to borrow the scraper, and they happened to be kind of creepy. I offered to scrape their van off for them really quickly, just so I could get in my car and go with minimal interaction and trying to keep out of possible danger, and I really wanted to get Millie home before something else happened

. . . and then I woke up trying to figure out how an exploding banana experiment led to pools of flaming cheese.

This is why I haven't been posting, among other things. This. My brain is full of exploding banana experiments and the resulting pools flaming cheese isn't even the point, it's just one more thing I have to deal with before I can get home. And it's not even that the real-life counterpart to the flaming cheese is interesting or post-worthy, it's just ... pools of flaming cheese. And it's in the way. And sooner or later, I'll be home safe, car free of dirty post-exploding-banana snow, and I'll have time and energy to do things like post pictures, clean the bathroom, and get Millie's claws trimmed. Sigh.

cats, stop the insanity, silliness, busy, stress, dreams, weird, cheese, stuff, life, crazy, bossy subconscious
