We got an offer on the house today.

I think - I think this means, pending something horrible, like the sudden and very recent incursion of some sort of nasty pest, like termites (which were not present in the 2007 inspection), that this is For Real.  And once we finish price and term haggling, that it will be a Done Deal.  And we will walk away sad ( Read more... )

We've had a spat of nasty storms lately.  You know it's not a good sign when you look out the window and notice that the sky is bright green.  Last thursday I woke up to a bright green sky, then saw another on friday afternoon (along with one of the most severe storms I've ever witnessed - rain was coming down in literal sheets, and the crashing ( Read more... )

So far, still not sold, although we had an Open House yesterday, and supposedly some people liked it.  Whether they liked it enough to buy, I don't know.

Last friday we got a crazy strong rainstorm, that ended up dumping several inches of water in part of our basement (one of the windows has a leak, I guess?).  We cleaned it up, no big deal.  Then in the wee hours of this morning, the basement got flooded again.

The air-conditioning at work feels extra-chilly today. Maybe because it's a cool 88 degrees instead of the 95 degree weather we had last week...I imagine that less inferno-like heat is being soaked up by the building. I ended up doing the midnight waiting-in-line-for-the-Harry-Potter-book-release thing, although I went to an indie bookstore rather than a big chain one, so I think I was in and out more quickly than I would otherwise have been. This "semester" is over! I submitted my 10 page paper last night (an hour before the deadline, even!) and the remaining bits of work this morning. Only 6 more weeks (my next session of classes starts on monday) and 2 classes left before I graduate! Yay ( Read more... )
