Today we went to see
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at Hartt School of Music. This is such a fun musical! All the songs are memorable. The musical is so dated now, and that is what you want in this type of musical. We loved the 50s costumes and choreography. Hartt is such a top notch school and everything about the production was great. All the performers did a fantastic job of singing and acting. I don't think we could have seen better on Broadway.
In church I played a Mozart Adagio with guitar accompaniment. I had a minor fluff in it -- played a note for an extra beat -- but my accompanist instantly noticed and also put in an extra beat, so I doubt anyone in the congregation actually noticed. This piece is s..o.. s..l..o..w.., which makes it really difficult to maintain concentration for the whole piece.
Last fall we had been planning
a vacation for May with my dad, who just turned 91 last Sunday. Last fall he decided he did not want to book it that far in advance at his age, so I made him tell me when he WOULD want to book it, and he said "March". So tonight I asked him if he still wanted to do it, and he said "Yes". So it looks like we will be doing a Rhine Cruise!! It is wonderful that he still is healthy enough that he can even consider doing this. I hope he enjoys it -- I know we will, and it will be great to be able to spend a week with him. He will enjoy it a great deal too, as long as it is not too strenuous for him. It is hard to tell in advance, since we have never been on this type of tour, but he can walk a mile at a fairly slow pace, so hopefully it will be OK.
