1) Zeitgeist. I hate that word because it's the current buzzword. For everyone else who doesn't speak German, it translates as "the spirit of the times/age," or directly as "time spirit." There is a high UV warning for today, of 6. WTF, it's April 7!

As of today this is apparently the second snowiest winter on record in Ottawa. The first was in 1970-1971. I know this because two of my Geography labs in the last two weeks, for different classes, have dealt with the historical snowfall here. Oddly, the numbers from the two labs don't agree. Given the way things have been going so far, I think Ottawa can expect a very snowy winter (over 50 cm of snow in 2 weeks). So I'm trying to find a pair of boots to do me between the runners days (up to 5 cm of snow) and the Sorels days (over 10 or 15 cm). It's sun-snowing! :D

It seems like every time I leave the room and come back, and look outside, it's almost imperceptibly greener as the buds open. It's because of the rain, mum would tell me. By the end of the week, maybe even a few days, everything will be green and it will be lovely! I hope I've not left before it happens ( Read more... )
