Spring finally!

It has been so nice to slip on flats and go for a walk with my dog. Today I stopped to take pictures and smell the blossoms on an apple tree we found. So lovely!

The baby bibs were well received at the shower yesterday. I always get so nervous before people open a hand-made gift, but everyone thought they were fun. I hope I get to babysit this summer! Quebec gives new moms a full year of paid maternity leave, so I don't think they'll need sitters much for awhile. We'll just have to have them over for dinner! :)

I finally finished adding some embroidery to a vintage dresser scarf that I will be listing on Etsy. I really like how it turned out.

And I finally figured out what to do with the vintage doilies that I got from my grandmother's estate. I wasted two on experiments, but this idea worked really well. I added a little embroidery to some of them, cut them in half and made them into a banner. I'm planning to put that on Etsy too, but I know my daughter would really like it too, so... I'm sure I will still end up trying to sell it, because worrying about the cost of my trip to London is weighing on me.

The doublet I am finishing just needs buttons and button holes. I wish it would fit J, because it really looks nice and is very well made, but he is too long in the torso. I thought about taking short-cuts, but it's important to me to enjoy the process, so if I end up not getting paid as much as it merits, I guess that's ok. And I got started on the button holes for my red medieval dress. So, progress.

Other than textile projects, I have also submitted a couple more abstracts for conferences in the next year. I no longer get a sick feeling when I hit the send button - I guess that's good!
