It's about time, Connecticut!

I don't understand the 85-page decision, or rather, I can't seem to wade through it all in the few minutes I have before I have to run out the door. But the nutshell version per Love Makes a Family is that the CT Supreme Court has ruled that same sex couples can marry in CT.

I was amused to see Ethan of Athos listed as an example of literary mpreg in a post I found via metafandom. I don't entirely get the ins and outs of this. For one thing, I'm not clear on why they took the civil suit approach in the first place, as it seems the problem is more the violation of existing laws than recovery of damages.
