Let You Kiss Me (So Sweet and So Soft)Pairing: Sherlock/John

Authors summary: Title comes from Regina Spektor's "Fidelity". Huge thanks to my betas vista_blows and tehomet.
The first time Sherlock kisses him, John keeps his eyes open, and so does Sherlock, and mostly, he wonders what Sherlock could possibly be up to. There'll be some logic to this. Some ridiculous experiment about body warmth or respiratory rates or testing a new way of picking pockets. Sherlock does the unimaginable for bizarre reasons, but behind it, there's always logic and curiosity. Sometimes, it just takes him a while to explain it to John.
Slash rating:
Written from John's point of view, this fic tells a tale of Sherlock randomly kissing John, leaving him bewildered as to what Sherlock's actual intentions are. Although essentially Sherlock is being manipulative, the writer has managed to keep from making him seem like an utter bastard. He is, in his rather warped mind, doing what is good for both he and John.
The story has a good pace, moving from one incident of Sherlock kissing John to another, until finally,self-deluded John comes to realise the truth of the situation. Thankfully the author does not resort to using fanfic clichés to describe these kisses, but instead writes something more realistic and believable.
Some of the dialogue is a bit out of character and a couple of the phrases seem clunky, as if the writer was trying too hard to make it sound British. On the other hand, there is some humorous dialogue between the boys and John's inner thoughts are also amusing and often endearing.
The characterisations are for the most part very good, however there are occasions where Sherlock in particular tends to be a bit too sweet and adorable. Mycroft makes an impressive cameo appearance, his telephone monologue being just one of the humorous details in this fic.
There is some nice use of language and good description throughout the fic, but it is not consistent. There are also quite a few grammar errors, missing words and some non-British usage. The writer used two betas for this fic and it is a shame that neither one of them managed to pick out some of the glaring mistakes, which for me are somewhat irksome when trying to read a good story.
On the whole, this is a good, fun and engaging read if you like a more gentle manipulative Sherlock and a clueless John.
