It's a sad holiday. George's death was so unexpected, but it is comforting to know he is still loved by millions of people and his music lives on. His song "Careless Whisper" was one of my favourites, and it was because of this song that I determined to learn English. Years later, I saw him live in Toronto. Last week, I went to see Cloud Atlas at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).( minor casting spoilers )

This post is for siduri. I agree with most of the reviews about this movie. The first 1/3 of the movie is promising, but the rest falls flat. The aliens are a disappointment. There is not enough character development, but Daniel Craig looks great in a waistcoat and cowboy pants. Also I want to mention the theme music of Jake Lonergan (Craig's character) ( Read more... )

"The Return of the Eagle" is my favorite track from The Eagle OST. It was arranged by the Neff Brothers from a traditional piece (Irish Reel "The Musical Priest") with fiddle, pipes and low whistles.

London Metropolitan Orchestra recorded Atli Örvarsson's score for The Eagle at Abbey Road studio 1. Here is a video. At the beginning it's just the conductor talking. Starting from 1'46", you can see a scene from one of the recording sessions. The conductor was watching scenes from the movie while recording the score.

I borrowed Mark Knopfler's album Screenplaying for the music he wrote for the movie "Princess Bride". Then I notice the first track from the CD is called "Irish Boy (From the movie - Cal.
