Went up to visit
copperbird and Rob this weekend, for
GenCon UK.
We went for breakfast at a cafe before the con, where I tried to get the brown sauce out of the bottle and it, er, exploded. Luckily, there was a Primark on the way to the venue, so I was able to get a change of clothes for not very much and didn't have to go around all day smelling of
HP Sauce.
Had a go at a few games, including Ticket to Ride, a good railway game which CB had been recommended to try. Didn't get to play any RPGs - the D&D 4th ed. demo seemed to be combat rather than RPing. Picked up some cool stuff. A leather belt pouch from a costume stall, a few cool dice, some figures, various freebies. Also the "gold edition" of
LOTRO for a bargain price of £10.00. And also some posters from the LOTRO people.
We also went to the pictures, and saw the Dark Knight. Which was really pretty impressive - I liked it a lot. We went to a good
Indian restaurant, and Rob and I tried a few of the various real ales at the
Hobgoblinand sat putting the world to rights.
I came back yesterday evening, and got up early today for the Lastball end-of-season softball tournament. The trains are out where I live, so it took a couple of buses in the rain to get to Clapham Junction station. Where I got a message by text to say that the tournament has been postponed due to the weather. So I turned round and came back home. Feeling at a bit of a loose end, now. Was all geared up to be doing something all day, and now I'm back and it's not even midday yet. Still, I have my sandwiches and stuff for the tournament, so at least lunch is taken care of...
