Chooli is a gamer. So now I'm trying to work out how team mode on an online multiplayer video game like Call of Duty or Splatoon would work for deaf characters, if at all. The characters in question prefer to communicate with ASL and are part of the Deaf community. But ASL as a language uses hands... which would be busy with the controller. And of course, they can't hear one another.
I *could* just use some magic solution, given that this is the Ravenstone story, but I want to keep the door open for Chooli to befriend mundanes who are Deaf as well, using the Internet and especially the games, if possible. I asked a deaf person on Tumblr about it. Still waiting on the response.
I mean, I guess they could Facetime or something beforehand, work out strategy and so on in ASL, but then what if something unexpected happens in the game? They need the ability to adapt and communicate during the game, as well.
I would ask some accessibility community, but the only relevant ones I can find on DW and LJ are all dead.
