Every time I write "doppelganger" in my story notes because of there being multiple alternate universes and thus multiple variations on the same character, I find myself remembering that a true doppelganger is more like the ghost of a living person, and I get annoyed. Anyone have any alternative terms I can use instead of doppelganger?

There's this bowling alley I have in my Ravenstone books, that's secretly a place for witches to gather. It's based on an actual place, which was either on Belmont or Hawthorne, but I can't remember where it was exactly, and looking up "bowling alley" on Google Maps, nothing in that area shows up. I have a weird problem I can't figure out how to solve. I accidentally added "Myrkalves" to the LibreOffice dictionary, when the proper spelling is "Myrkálves" with an accented A. I have the incorrect version set to automatically correct to the right spelling, but it isn't doing it. I looked in the dictionary list of words like the help page I ( Read more... )

Just got through researching aura colors for my Ravenstone story. My impression is that the color meanings are highly subjective. I decided to base how Chooli interprets them somewhat off the standard ones, split things I feel conflict with each other into different shades of those colors or into different colors, and a little bit of my own ( Read more... )

Does anybody know if there’s a sign in ASL (other than finger-spelling) for “demi-boy” or “demi-guy”? Or a sign for that in any other form of sign language?

Writer's question of the day: if someone's auditory nerve isn't working for some reason, could a cochlear implant still work for them or not? Wrote two poems today inspired by the location that the Shrewsbury Renaissance faire is at (King's Valley, Oregon). That makes the fourth poem I've written since Lily passed. After some thinking, I realized Chooli would have no reason to learn lip reading, given how zeer family all know ASL, and zee goes to a school for the deaf.
