Airborne motherfuck!

I was thinking it would be cool to build a little bot in my spare time out here. I used to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition when I was in high school ( I went to a technology magnet school). I was trying to think about the applications, and I thought it would be cool to build a small nanobot with embedded linux that could map out wifi ( Read more... )

And it could hop onto unprotected wireless networks to send back GPS-related tracking data (or anything you had programmed in)! Though I wonder how you'd get your data if it strayed into an area with no wifi coverage.

Also, having a graphical map of where the wireless networks were would be incredibly cool.

oh i failed to mention that it would be using my Tmobile acct. I found a page that shows how to hook up tmobile PCMCIA cards to embedded devices. So it could mail or msg me its locale from anywhere. :)

In that case, you get two thumbs up and my Seal of Approval. Just watch out for those roaming charges.

I am actually thinking about spending the money to make a motorized housing for my telescope, and attaching a ccd to it to photograph and compare starfield maps. I am a dork.

Extremely Short Range RC BlimpI like this idea. Not much to find around here in the way of hotspots. There are a couple downtown that you could use for testing. The CCD/telescope thing might be a little over the line as far as being LEGAL ( ... )

down boys.. jeez.. i know i spend a lot of time on here, but some days i dont get on my machine at all.

Ok, let me start by saying that when I brought up Tmobile, I was talking about their cellular pcmcia card, like sprint's, it is like a cell and a modem in one pcmcia card, so it would have 'wifi' from anywhere, even out in the boonies.

:)

An with that, I am thinking about comparing star fields. I mean it's the difference between maybe a link on /. and a supernova named after yours truly.
